Excessive sweating/perspiration is common in the underarms, palms of hands, and soles of feet and is medically termed hyperhidrosis. This can be controlled with injections of neuromodulator (BOTOX®, DYSPORT®, Xeomin®) into the skin of the affected areas. The injections block the nerve signals that instruct the sweat glands to become active and sweat.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
While the injections keep you from sweating, they do not prevent body odor, as it’s not actually sweating that causes BO. The culprit is the bacteria that live on your skin.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This treatment has been shown to result in an 82-87% decrease in sweating. Results begin to be noticeable approximately 2 to 4 days after treatment with the full effects usually noted within 2 weeks.

Retreatment is typically needed in 4 to 6 months as the nerves regenerate. Over time, however, patients can go longer between treatments.
