Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP)/ Platelet-rich Fibrin (PRF)

Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP)/ Platelet-rich Fibrin (PRF) treatments are meant to assist the body in regenerating and restoring skin quality and volume in any area of the face. The treatment begins with a small blood draw. The sample is then spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelets from the red cells and white blood cells. Once spinning is complete, your platelets (and a small amount of natural stem cell) will be injected into areas of concern. Following the injection, platelets will reach the fibrin network and begin a cascade to release growth factors further creating new collagen and skin cells. Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) is spun at a faster speed than Platelet-rich Fibrin (PRF) and therefore produces a thinner, more platelet rich product. Platelet-rich Fibrin (PRF) is spun slower than Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP) and produces a gel consistency type product that along with platelets includes some scant white cells and stem cells. We use each of these types of platelets for direct injection into problem areas as well as with some microneedling type procedures. Your provider will discuss which type of platelet treatment would be best suited for your areas of concern.
