Hair Restoration

Hair restoration is a combination of microneedling with PRP and A-Cell injections. Radiofrequency that assists with collagen stimulation and overall skin rejuvenation while using the assisted power of radiofrequency to tighten the skin. It has less downtime than traditional microneedling. We are often recommending Vivace treatments over traditional microneedling for our clients 40+ years old due to the extra benefit of skin tightening via radiofrequency.

PRP (platelet rich plasma) is a concentration of a patient’s own platelets to accelerate the healing process and stimulate hair regrowth. PRP begins with whole blood that is obtained through a blood draw then spun in a centrifuge, which separates the plasma out. PRP will then be applied topically on the skin and injected during the hair restoration treatment. PRP can be injected to naturally stimulate the development of new hair follicles.

ACell is an FDA approved cellular regeneration product used in wound healing that has recently been combined with a patient’s own stem cells and has shown to improve hair regrowth for both men and women. In hair restoration, ACell is combined with PRP (platelet rich plasma) and injected into the scalp.

Post treatment you can expect the following:

Mild redness (may feel like a sunburn) and mild swelling immediately after that should resolve in 24 hours

Scalp will feel tight and dry immediately after treatment followed by a sandpaper texture that may last 2-7 days

Skin may flake off and peel for 3-5 days

Itching, discomfort, pinpoint bleeding, bruising, scabbing or darkening of the treated area may happen

Yes, the contraindications for hair restoration include:

Pregnancy or breastfeeding

Recent sun exposure (in the last 2 weeks) or use of self tanners

Patients who have used isotretinoin (Accutane) within the last 6-12 months

Patients with a history of skin cancer, especially malignant melanoma

Patients with a history of autoimmune disease (HIV, hepatitis or Lupus.

Patients who have medical conditions that may affect wound healing

Neurotoxin injections in the treatment area in the last 2 weeks

Dermal fillers in treatment area in the last 30 days

Patients that do not have enough viable hair follicles in the treatment area.

Patients that have experienced a previous adverse reaction to a hair restoration or microneedling treatment.

You can expect to see results in 4-8 weeks after the procedure as it takes this long for new hair growth.

The number of treatments will depend on your skin and your desired results. Your provider will discuss and customize a treatment for your individual needs. We recommend 3 treatments (and offer a package of three treatments) with a maintenance treatment every 6 months for optimal results. Sessions are spaced 6-8 weeks apart for 3 treatments.

Complications, though rare, can occur and should be discussed and understood. The patient must understand the importance of the post care instructions, and that failure to comply may increase the potential for complications.

Scarring, though rare, can occur following collagen induction therapy

Hypopigmentation (lightening of the skin) or hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin)

Skin infection

At Vega Vitality, we believe that wellness and beauty go hand in hand. For example, we not only offer a skin peel that can improve acne, but we also have a functional nutritionist available to assist with dietary changes that may address the root cause of the problem. The more we can improve our lifestyle through mindful eating, movement, and mediation, the better our skin and body will be.
