From there, we develop a plan that may include prescription medication, nutritional guidance, activity recommendations, and ongoing follow-up and support.

Understanding what's next
what about retatrutide?
Retatrutide is an investigational medication that targets the GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon receptors and has shown promising results in clinical trials. It is not FDA approved. Products marketed as “retatrutide” outside of clinical trials should not be considered equivalent to the drug currently under investigation by Eli Lilly.
Our medical team can discuss currently available treatment options and help you stay informed as new therapies become available.

Frequently asked questions
Am I a candidate for weight management?
Eligibility depends on your health history, weight, goals, current medications, and other individual factors. Your Vega provider will review these with you and discuss whether prescription medication or another weight-management strategy is appropriate.
What weight loss medications are available?
Treatment is individualized. Depending on your medical needs and eligibility, options may include FDA-approved medications such as Zepbound® (tirzepatide), oral medications, or—in appropriate patient-specific circumstances—medications prepared by a compounding pharmacy.
Compounded medications are not reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality in the same way as approved medications.
Do I have to join a membership?
No. Vega does not require a weight-management membership or recurring program fee. For medications dispensed through our program, patients pay based on their prescribed treatment, with injection supplies and follow-up visits included according to current program pricing.
Can my appointments be virtual?
Yes. Follow-up care can often be completed virtually or in person, depending on your clinical needs. Patients also have direct access to the supervising physician for questions, coaching, and support throughout treatment.
How quickly will I lose weight?
Results vary considerably based on the medication, dose, starting weight, treatment duration, nutrition, activity, and individual response. Rather than promising a particular number of pounds or timeline, we monitor your progress and adjust your treatment plan based on effectiveness, tolerability, and your goals.
Will I need lab testing?
Laboratory testing may be recommended before or during treatment based on your health history and treatment plan. When medically indicated, many commonly ordered laboratory tests may be covered by health insurance, although coverage varies by plan.
How do you protect muscle and nutrition during weight loss?
Successful weight management involves more than lowering the number on the scale. We can discuss protein and nutritional intake, resistance exercise, optional body-composition tracking, and other strategies to support lean mass and overall health during caloric restriction. Complementary services and nutritional supplements may also be considered based on your individual goals.
What happens when I reach my goal weight?
Reaching a goal weight is not necessarily the end of treatment. Your provider can help develop an individualized maintenance strategy that may include continued or adjusted medication when appropriate, nutrition and activity strategies, body-composition monitoring, and ongoing follow-up.
