Magma

Magma is a versatile energy device which combines 808nm diode laser, Nd:YAG 1064nm pure diode laser, and IPL ultra short pulse in the same system. Magma provides intense pulse light technology treating common skin conditions such as brown spots, rosacea, broken capillaries, and laser hair removal for all skin types. Vascular and pigmented lesions are addressed with the diode and Nd:YAG 1064 lasers for treatment of facial telangictasia, leg veins, couperose, cherry angiomas, and other vascular lesions.

The IPL ultra-short pulse is also equipped with very high Pulse Density, providing faster visible results and reduced discomfort, making MAGMA the ultimate choice for IPL. The Nd:YAG 1064nm diode laser offers a powerful solution for facial and leg vascular lesions, bringing better results with fewer treatments.

The system has specially designed treatment modes for darker skin types. Dual chiller cooling results in maximum patient comfort and safety. Treatment time varies depending on the individual and the size of the body area being treated. On average, the treatment time will take around 20-25 minutes. A series of more than one treatment may be required, typically 4-6 weeks apart. Minimal down time is required for most treatment types.

Specific instructions may vary depending on treatment type.

Avoid natural sun exposure and tanning beds for 2 weeks before treatment
Avoid self-tanner, spray tan, or any lotions that contain gradual tanners for 2 weeks before treatment
Patients with a history of cold sores should take antiviral medications (Valtrex) starting one day before treatment and continue the course for an additional four days.
To decrease the risk of bruising, we recommend avoiding the following for 3 days before your treatment (unless medically contraindicated):
- Alcoholic beverages
- NSAIDs (Advil/Ibuprofen/Aspirin)
- Warfarin
- Herbal supplements: Vitamin E, St. John’s Wort, Garlic, Ginkgo, Ginseng
- Any supplements or medication that increases the chances of bleeding or blood thinning
Arrive at the office with the treatment area clean and free of makeup, lotions, creams, or products before treatment.

For hair removal, hair length during the treatment should be 1-2 mm. (re-growing hair). Patients should shave the area 2 -3 days prior to the session. If waxing method is preferred then it should be performed with enough time in advance to have the right hair length (1-2mm).
For non-hair removal treatments, the area should be shaved so that hair do not interfere with energy delivery in the area.
