Sculptra® Aesthetic

AVAILABLE AT ALL VEGA VITALITY PRACTICE LOCATIONS

What Is Sculptra®?

Sculptra is an injectable biostimulatory treatment designed to stimulate your body’s natural collagen production and gradually improve facial volume, structure, and skin quality.

Unlike traditional dermal fillers that provide immediate volume with hyaluronic acid, Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). Rather than simply filling an area, PLLA stimulates a gradual regenerative response that helps restore collagen within the treated tissues.

The result develops progressively, making Sculptra particularly appealing for patients who want subtle, natural-looking rejuvenation that evolves over time.

What Can Sculptra Treat?

Sculptra can be used to address age-related volume loss and changes in facial structure, including:

  • Hollowing of the temples
  • Volume loss through the cheeks and midface
  • Facial thinning
  • Changes in facial contour associated with aging
  • Lines and folds associated with volume loss
  • Declining skin firmness and quality
  • Overall facial rejuvenation

Rather than treating an individual wrinkle in isolation, Sculptra is often used to improve broader areas of facial volume and support.

How Does Sculptra Work?

Collagen is one of the structural proteins responsible for the strength, firmness, and support of youthful skin. Natural collagen production decreases with age, contributing to changes in facial volume and skin quality.

Sculptra’s PLLA particles are injected into selected areas beneath the skin, where they stimulate a gradual collagen-building response.

Some immediate fullness may be visible after treatment because Sculptra is mixed with sterile water before injection. This initial fullness decreases as that fluid is absorbed. The actual Sculptra result then develops progressively as new collagen is produced.

This gradual process is one of the defining differences between Sculptra and conventional dermal filler.

Sculptra vs. Dermal Filler

Both Sculptra and dermal fillers can be used to address facial aging, but they work very differently.

Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvéderm® and Restylane® provide immediate, targeted volume. They can be particularly useful when precise contouring or correction of a specific area is desired.

Sculptra works gradually by stimulating collagen production throughout the treated area. It is often selected when the goal is broader restoration of facial volume and support rather than immediate correction of a specific feature.

Many patients benefit from both approaches. Sculptra and traditional filler can be used strategically within the same overall treatment plan when appropriate.

How Many Sculptra Treatments Will I Need?

Sculptra is generally performed as a series rather than a single treatment.

The number of sessions and amount of product required vary considerably according to age, degree of volume loss, treatment areas, anatomy, and desired result.

Many patients receive multiple treatment sessions spaced several weeks apart, followed by reassessment as collagen develops.

Because treatment needs are highly individualized, there isn’t a universal number of Sculptra vials that is appropriate for every patient.

What to Expect During Sculptra Treatment

Your appointment begins with an assessment of your facial anatomy, existing volume, and treatment goals. Your provider will then determine the areas and amount of Sculptra appropriate for your treatment plan.

Sculptra is injected strategically into the selected areas. Temporary swelling, redness, tenderness, or bruising can occur following treatment.

Because Sculptra works through collagen stimulation, the goal is not to judge the final result immediately after injection. Changes develop progressively over the following weeks and months.

Sculptra Results

Sculptra results are intentionally gradual.

As collagen production increases, patients may notice progressive improvement in facial volume, contour, and overall support. This allows the result to develop more subtly than treatments that create immediate volume.

Results can be long-lasting, although duration varies between patients and does not mean the normal aging process stops. Some patients choose periodic maintenance treatment after completing their initial series.

FAQ

Sculptra is an injectable treatment, but it works differently from traditional hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. Its primary effect comes from stimulating collagen production rather than simply depositing a gel to create immediate volume.

Sculptra results develop gradually as collagen production increases. Changes generally become apparent over the weeks and months following treatment rather than immediately.

There is no single number appropriate for everyone. Treatment needs depend on factors such as facial anatomy, age, degree of volume loss, areas being treated, and desired outcome. Your provider will recommend an individualized treatment plan.

Sculptra can produce long-lasting improvement because its effect is based on collagen stimulation. Individual duration varies, and some patients eventually choose maintenance treatments as aging continues.

Yes. The treatments can complement one another because they accomplish different things. Sculptra can be used for broader collagen stimulation and volume restoration, while conventional filler may be selected for more immediate or precise correction.

Sculptra is particularly well suited to patients seeking gradual change. Because results develop as collagen is produced over time, improvement can appear progressively rather than as an abrupt change immediately after treatment.

Most patients can return to normal activities relatively quickly, although temporary swelling, redness, tenderness, and bruising can occur. Your provider will give you specific post-treatment instructions.
