SKINVIVE™ by JUVÉDERM® is an injectable hyaluronic acid treatment designed to improve skin hydration, smoothness, and overall skin quality without creating the type of facial volume or contour typically associated with dermal fillers.

What is skinvive?
SKINVIVE by JUVÉDERM is an FDA-approved hyaluronic acid injectable for improving the smoothness of the cheeks in adults over age 21.
Like traditional hyaluronic acid fillers, SKINVIVE contains hyaluronic acid—but it is used very differently. Treatment involves small injections placed within the skin rather than using filler to build structure or restore significant volume.

Skinvive vs. Traditional Dermal Filler
Although SKINVIVE and many traditional fillers are both made with hyaluronic acid, their treatment goals are different.

How Does Skinvive Work?
SKINVIVE uses modified hyaluronic acid, a molecule naturally found in the skin with the ability to attract and retain water.
Small amounts are injected across the treatment area to improve hydration within the skin. Unlike traditional filler techniques designed to create structure or projection, SKINVIVE is distributed through multiple small injection points.
This allows treatment to focus on skin quality rather than facial augmentation.
What to Expect During Treatment
Your appointment begins with an assessment of your skin and a discussion of your goals.
SKINVIVE is administered through a series of small injections across the treatment area. The product contains lidocaine to help improve comfort during treatment.
Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising, firmness, or small bumps at injection sites may occur afterward. These effects generally improve as the treatment area settles.
- To decrease the risk of bruising, we recommend avoiding the following for 3 days prior to your treatment (unless medically contraindicated):
- Alcoholic beverages
- NSAIDs (Advil/Ibuprofen/Aspirin)
- Warfarin
- Herbal supplements: Vitamin E, St. John’s Wort, Garlic, Ginkgo, Ginseng
- Any supplements or medication that increases the chances of blood thinning
- No dental work for two weeks prior to your treatment.
- If you have a history of any autoimmune and neurological diseases, a consultation is required with your provider prior to treatment.
- Arrive at the office with the treatment area clean and free of makeup, lotions, creams, or products prior to treatment
- Do not touch or apply make-up immediately following treatment
- Apply ice (gently with light pressure) 3-4 times per day for swelling
- Arnica gel or tablets can be used to reduce bruising and swelling
- Avoid alcohol or blood thinners for 24-48 hours
- Avoid exercise for 24 hours
- Avoid dental work for 2 weeks
- Do not massage or apply firm pressure to the injection site for 1 week
- Do not receive additional skin treatments (laser, microneedling, facial, etc.) for 2-4 weeks depending on the injection area.
Lip Filler:
- Avoid spicy food for 24 hours
- Avoid prolonged exposure to heat or sun for 24 hours
- Avoid using a straw to drink for 3 days
- Avoid saunas or steam baths for 2 weeks
Skinvive Results
SKINVIVE is intended to produce a subtle improvement in skin quality rather than an immediate change in facial shape.
As the treatment settles, patients may notice skin that appears smoother and more hydrated.
Results are temporary. Clinical studies supporting FDA approval demonstrated improvement in cheek smoothness lasting approximately six months in many patients.
