Orthopedic massage is the manual manipulation of soft tissue with intent to restore proper movement and balance to the fascial and musculoskeletal system. It is indicated for specific musculoskeletal conditions, injury, chronic pain, athletic wear and tear as well as psychosomatic stress induced by mental health conditions and everyday life. Poor postural patterns whether due to injury, long hours sitting or repetitive strain cause compensation patterns in the body that result in tissue restriction and compression. Orthopedic massage disrupts this pattern, reduces restriction, and creates space and balance in the body. The method is unique in that it is very slow and gentle while also being deep and relaxing. Both eastern and western medicinal influences combine to form a synergistic approach to healing.
